In the United States, about 71 million adults have high cholesterol. Although many people take medications to help reduce their cholesterol, about only 1 in 3 have their levels controlled. People with high cholesterol have about twice the risk of for heart disease as people who do not have high cholesterol.

If you are 18 and currently being treated for high cholesterol, you may qualify for a study assessing the effectiveness of an investigational drug at lowering cholesterol.
